Things kick-off at 6pm with Vessna Scheff on ukelele followed by the School of Rock at 7pm. Slurpphilly will be slinging fresh ramen, Korean fried chicken, Korean BBQ tacos. Purposeful Pops is bringing their artisan pops made with local ingredients for local good. Evil Genius Beer Company will be serving their beer made right over on Front Street.

During the festivities you can join our Herbal Bug Repellant Workshop! We’ll be teaching you how to make your own salve that’s great for your skin and keeps away mosquitos and flies too. Registration required.

Entertainment

School of Rock House Band. Top students ranging in age from 13-18 perform classic rock to progressive rock to alternative music.

Vessna Scheff memorizes audiences with voice and ukulele performances that combine soul, folk and jazz. She began singing at a young age and developed her musical talents after coming across a ukulele in a thrift store. She currently resides in Philadelphia where she began collaborating with producer Lee Clarke. Their collaboration includes vocals, pulsing rhythms and deep beats in an emotional and fresh approach.

Handmade Goods

Madcrumbs is a made-to-order, small-batch bakeshop in Philadelphia. No product is ever frozen. They bake from scratch using high quality and local ingredients whenever possible. By baking small batch we cut down in our food waste and able to offer affordable prices.

Thankful Sage Farm School manufactures handmade soaps and a variety of candles with historic underpinnings. Coming from Historic Bucks County, it is easy to capture the spirit of the early America – they hand mix the scents of soil, woodsmoke, old pipes, and local flowers. They make a variety of candles, non GMO soy candles and beeswax candles- produced from the hives on their little farm. They teach heritage skills.

Melmos Dog Treats provides an all natural dog treat in fun shapes and flavors!

Riot Alliance creates handmade jewelry with semi-precious raw crystals and high quality gold and sterling silver materials. 10% of proceeds benefit a different quarterly social justice partner in Philadelphia.

Cat Horn Accessory handcrafted casual metal and fiber jewelry and accessories for women and men. Original designs using wirework, macrame, leather craft, and needlepoint using precious metals, semiprecious stones, silk, and leather.

Brendan’s Rustic Handcrafts handcrafted rustic wood homegoods and furniture made from locally sourced hardwoods and crafted in West Philly.

Wreath Making Workshop

Registration Required. Learn to build and decorate a beautiful holiday wreath from scratch!  We supply a 12 inch reusable metal frame, various greens and decorations like pine cones and ornaments, and will have a supply of dried and high quality artificial flowers to select from. Everyone will make their own wreath to take home or give as a gift!

PLEASE NOTE: Cancellations within 72 hours of the start of class are nonrefundable or transferable. Workshop refunds and transfers requested earlier than 72 hours before the class start time will be charged a $5.00 processing fee.

Our local cider scene is growing! Join us at the farmstand to taste PA ciders from Ploughman Farm Cider and Commonwealth Cider!

Greensgrow’s Farmstand runs by the motto “fresh, local and delicious”, and is an extension of our mission to bring Philadelphians quality produce and locally prepared provisions. We have a selection of our own organically-grown produce as well as local produce from within 150 miles from our long-time farmer partners. We are stocked with all local items including dairy products from raw milk to artisan cheese, cage-free eggs, pantry goods, meat-free proteins, and humanely and sustainably raised meats.

Ploughman Farm Cider is the proud maker of ciders made from apples grown in Adams County, PA. They grow, harvest and produce ciders from our friends at Three Springs Fruit Farm.

Commonwealth Ciders crafts traditionally-fermented hard apple cider made right down the street from Greensgrow Farms and is one of our longtime community partners. Their ciders are fermented dry with no additional sweeteners, artificial flavors, preservatives or colors.

Philadelphia Brewing Company will be here and What’s on the Grill BBQ; chicken, sausages and hot dogs. There will be live music from Marion Halladay of Trickster Sister and Dirty Soap Blues Band (music starts at 6), and while you’re listening to the beat, there’s a whole host of local vendors ready to welcome you!

We’ve got a good group of vendors for October. There will be custom print shirts, totes, buttons, jewelry, paper goods, embroidered hats and more from Morbid Merch, Quick Brown Fox & Lazy Dog, Charmazing Inc., and locals Dave & Mary. There will also be woodworked appliances, glass blown ornaments and terrariums, wall hangings, art, handmade soy candles and all your tea-related needs from Grajales Fabrication, Simply Hecgardo, Canterbury Customs Co, Lady Gray Tea, Vessna Scheff and Valeriya Volkova Art to furnish your kitchen and home. Don’t forget to bring your canine friends when you visit, because there will be treats for you both from Melmos Dog Treats and MADcrumbs Sweet Boutique!

Soil lead testing: The EPA is coming out to do soil lead testing. You can bring a soil sample to have tested on the spot, it just takes a few minutes so you can have a beer while you wait! See instructions on how to get a good sample here. They will use a handheld instrument that analyzes by X-ray fluorescence. The results are generally comparable to laboratory analyses. If participation is unusually high and you cannot wait for results, you can drop off the soil and provide us with a phone number and we will get back to you.
