Greensgrow believes that building a sustainable food system includes making access to local, fresh food affordable to everybody. Therefore, Greensgrow is committed to working to make our work available to all members of the community, including low-income families and individuals. We accept SNAP (EBT/ACCESS), Philly Food Bucks, FMNP and SFMNP.
Our Farm Share is a two-way seasonal commitment between you and our local farm partners. Each member pays for a seasonal share of food using EBT, and in exchange receives an array of mixed seasonal produce. Some share options include dairy and other prepared foods as well. It is similar to a membership or buying club – each member becomes a part of the farm’s local food community with this commitment to eating locally. Find out more.
Greensgrow Mobile Markets bring fresh and healthy food items at affordable prices into underserved and economically disadvantaged parts of Philadelphia. We work most closely with senior centers, but are open to partnerships with schools, churches, CDCs, or any other organization that has a core group of constituents interested in accessing more fresh produce.
Every week we sell high-quality seasonal produce purchased directly from farmers. We carry locally grown fruits and vegetables like peaches, corn and tomatoes, as well as dairy, eggs, and prepared foods.
By utilizing low capitalization models and highly effective and efficient resource management, Greensgrow Mobile Markets increases food security in neighborhoods with limited access to fresh food. We accept SNAP/EBT (Food Stamps) cards, WIC & SFMNP farmers markets vouchers, and offer Philly Food Bucks to increase the amount of fresh, local food families can purchase. The project also works closely with its partner organizations to recruit and retain customers and sustain increased healthful food consumption through workshops, cooking demonstrations, and fitness activities.
Since launching in 2011, Greensgrow Neighborhood Markets have served over 15,000 customers, distributed 40+ tons of fresh produce, put more than $100,000 back into the local food system, and created 3 reliable jobs for area residents. Over 60% of customers have reported eating more fruits and vegetables as a direct result of the project.
We are always looking for new partners and opportunities. If you would like us to visit your church, school, block party, or community event, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
