Registration Required. Learn how to make your own medicinal bitters at home with common plants like angelica and burdock. Instructor Kelly McCarthy of Attic Apothecary will teach us about the medicinal properties of local and abundant herbs and the history of bitters. You’ll get guidelines for creating great tasting cocktail bitters, sip on a seltzer and bitters while we get hands-on making our own tincture to take home. Long used as a digestive and overall health tonic, bitters are said to help stabilize blood sugar, normalize high cholesterol, and alleviate headaches and tension.
Kelly McCarthy is a west Philly based clinical herbalist, medicine maker, and educator with a decade of experience to draw from. She enjoys teaching people about common plants and how to use them in cheap and effective ways without a lot of fancy equipment.
All materials provided. Everyone gets an 8 ounce jar of bitters to take home.
