Cabbage and Apples is a breeze. It can be used as a side dish, pot luck dish or main course with a side of pierogies.
1 head of Cabbage 2 tbs Butter or soy margarine 4 Apples (most varieties will do) salt and pepper white wine vinegar
Peel and core the apples. Chop and core the cabbage. Heat a skillet and add the butter. Add the apples and stir for 2 minutes. Add the cabbage, salt and pepper and stir. Keep on medium to low heat covered, for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking. Add a splash of white wine vinegar.
For a slight variation you can add cinnamon, or any other of your favorite flavors. Serve warm.
Optional: add a dollop of sour cream or Pequa Valley Plain Yogurt to each dish. - Updated: January 16, 2007
