6 pounds turnips, peeled, sliced into 1/2-inch rounds 1/2 cup (1 stick) butter, melted teaspoon ground nutmeg
Preheat oven to 325°F. Toss turnips and butter in 13 x 9 x 2-inch glass baking dish. Sprinkle turnips with salt and pepper. Cover dish with foil. Bake until tender, about 1-1-1/2 hour. Remove from oven and mash coarsely. Stir in nutmeg. Season to taste with salt and pepper. - Updated: March 14, 2005
