Grid Magazine calls Greensgrow Farm "one of the most impressive sustainable ventures in the city." Greensgrow Farms is where we began. Early on we often got the question, "A farm in the city?" Today the answer to that question doesn't seem so strange. In 1997 when we developed this concept as a way for Philadelphia chefs to serve a decent tomato, people thought we were crazy. Today Greensgrow Farms is the standard for successful urban farming. The Farm operates a seasonal Farm Stand, a 300 share CSA (City Supported Agriculture) and a nursery.
There is so much more to Greensgrow Farm than the commerce. Integrated Pest Management, internships, hydroponics, satellite growing, variety trials, seed starting of heirloom and ethnic vegetables, ebb and flood design, raising bees, composting and the list goes on.
