Buck Run Land & Cattle Co.
Dr. Elkin's Angusburger, from grass-fed Black Angus steers
Dr. Bill Elkins has operated Buck Run Land & Cattle Co. in Chester County, PA, 6 miles south of Coatesville, since 1985. After growing up on a farm, Dr. Elkins pursued a career in medical science, finally retiring from the faculty at the University of Pennsylvania. With this background, he became particularly interested in the possible health benefits of pasture raised beef. Beef which comes from grass-fed cattle contains significantly higher amounts of "good fats" - the fatty acids omega 3 and CLA which are in short supply in the modern American diet and are believed to play a role in fighting cancer and heart disease. For more info on these health benefits, you can visit www.eatwild.com.
At Buck Run Farm, Dr. Elkins and just a few part-time employees concentrate on farming methods which follow nature as closely as they can. They rely on improved pastures to keep their animals healthy, happy, and growing. While they choose not to be certified organic, they treat their animals and the environment with care and do not use antibiotics or hormones. Dr. Elkins strives to preserve the quality of his product and is very grateful to all his customers.
