The Philadelphia Project...

Hydroponics, Honey From the Hood, vermi-composting, bio diesel, school tours, on farm lectures, organic gardening workshops, green roofs, The Neighborhood Urban Agriculture Coalition (NUAC) community gardens and senior markets.

A laundry list of crazy ideas? Absolutely.

And also a partial list of programs and visions (including our washing machine turned salad spinner) we have been busy running through The Philadelphia Project's rinse cycle.

Our Philadelphia Project is a registered 501 c3 that dares to find ways to put ideas to work because we believe that ideas can only be made into reality if given an opportunity.

We have explored concepts, projects, visions and dreams, built, rebuilt and rebuilt again models, stomped off in disgust and cheered triumphant as we invent and give life to the ideas that have helped us meet our goal of creating viable green reuse of urban space.

As the great French writer Colette once said. You will do foolish things, do them with enthusiasm.

A conventional farm seemed highly unlikely to spring from an industrial brownfield, so it was back to the drawing board where they re-visioned their urban farm employing hydroponic growing of lettuce. Surprising even themselves, it was a success. Click here to learn more...
