Welcome to the Nursery at Greensgrow Farms, where you’ll find nearly everything you need to create and maintain a city garden. Our award-winning nursery specializes in plants and supplies for small-space growing, but we offer a lot more, too.
Having trouble planting your containers or choosing plants for your location? We’re here to help. Plus, we offer a variety of gardening workshops in the spring and fall – check the Events Calendar to see what’s on the agenda, or for the very latest Greensgrow news, sign up for our newsletter and for daily updates on plant availability–like us on Facebook.
Around Thanksgiving we put all our perennials and shrubs away till spring. Winter means it is time for miniature evergreens, perfect for windowboxes. It also means that it’s time for holiday decorating with dwarf Alberta spruces, tiny (but not for long) Blue spruces, hollies, boxwoods and junipers – some in topiary shapes. We’ll also have wreaths, garland, swags and cut Christmas trees. For an idea of which hardy, zone-appropriate plants you’ll find in our autumn available stock, take a look at the lists below. To find out exactly what’s available, you can send us an email or give us a call at 215-427-2702.
Inside the toasty greenhouse you can pick out rosemary trees, hanging baskets of pansies, cacti, terrariums, airplants and houseplants. Now is the time to get your paperwhite and amaryllis bulbs. Also, Christmas cactus, kalanchoe, and cyclamen are frequent winter visitors. Plus, all year round in our greenhouse and garden shed, you’ll find fertilizers, containers, gardening gear, chemical-free pest deterrents, urban-gardening books and much more.
This year our low income CSA, the SNAP Box program, recruited 75 households to use their food stamp payments for subsidized weekly produce baskets. Each week SNAP members received information on how to make the most of their share, including recipes, nutrition, preparation and storage tips. Your commitment to our annual appeal will allow us to continue to grow this program with proper educational materials, knowledgeable staff and quality local produce. Consider the impact your giving dollars can have.
