Self Guided Tours

We've got a few a self guided tours for you:

  1. Download this PDF and you can wander around the farm (either on foot or in the comfort of your own home..) to learn about what exactly we do here. From the hoophouse to the beehives...and beyond. (Shout out to Subaru of America and REPSG Environmental Professionals for their assistance in getting that self guided tour package together.) Blanche the farm cat serves as your tour guide. Unfortunately, she does not answer any questions. (We are currently working on a teachers' manual to accompany our self guided tour. This manual will allow teachers to answer some common questions that come up.)
  2. Freelance photographer Dave Tavani hung around Greensgrow for awhile. Click here to see a wonderful slide show with narration that gives a nice overview of the farm...
  3. We have a great deal of information about our farm on our website (just use the search function) as well as stuff on Youtube like videos explaining bio diesel and hydroponics.

Guide Tours

Many people express an interest in coming to visit our farm for a tour. Much as we would like to accommodate all, we are busy doing...you guessed it, farm work. We do not have any staff dedicated to a position for education and tours. Quite honestly, we have sought funding and been turned down and as a result simply cannot afford to finance something like this on our own.

That said, we are still trying to meet the needs of the public, specifically teachers who may want to visit with their students and out of towners who may want to see what our farm looks like.

So we offer some options.

  1. We give a tour of Greensgrow every Saturday at 11 am. All are welcome. There is no charge but donations are appreciated. All questions answered.
  2. For a fee, one of our staff can be scheduled to take your group through Greensgrow, explaining all of our work and answering all questions. Blanch may or may not choose to accompany your group. This kind of tour is appropriate for the very young, the not so young and everyone in between. Greensgrow has a sliding fee scale between $30-50 per tour. No groups larger than 20. Childrens groups must have at least one adult supervisor per 5 or so kids.

Special Events Hosting

On occasion we host dinners or after work get together for groups such as The Women's Culinary Society or Slow Food Philadelphia. We cannot do this for private individuals but we are able to host select groups looking for an alternative to a hotel or restaurant meeting site

If you need additional informaton, or want to set something up, just get in touch

Greensgrow is THE nationally recognized leader in urban farming (don't just take our word for it...) and is open to the public from early spring through Christmas. A small but dedicated staff runs a multifaceted operation, including a nursery, a farm market, and a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, proving that abandoned land is only abandoned if we choose to leave it that way.
