Registration Required. Get back into the garden this fall and learn how to grow a variety of hardy greens and root veggies into the colder months at our Season Extension Workshop! On September 16, join our expert instructor and Greensgrow lead farmer, Deirdre to plan for the season ahead.
Deirdre will go over which veggies to grow, different soil-warming techniques, how to use hoops and row covers over your garden, and provide information to help you set up your fall & winter veggies for success. Enjoy fresh food from your garden longer with less worries from heat stress, pests and plant diseases! Deirdre asks all participants to come with a basic layout of their garden and notes on the light it gets so we can tailor these season extension tips to your space. We’ll take you in the high tunnels to show how we grow at Greensgrow Farms.
In addition to demos and instruction, everyone will go home with information on frost and seeding dates, and how planting and harvest timing is affected by cold weather. Don’t miss your chance to turn every season into a growing season!
Deirdre is Greensgrow’s lead farmer and a seasoned demo-educator. She has experience in fostering the life-cycle of edible plants, from seeding to transplanting to harvest to consumption and composting. Who’s in charge of year-round seed-starting operation for Greensgrow’s high tunnel production and nursery starts? That’s Deirdre!
PLEASE NOTE: Cancellations within 72 hours of the start of class are nonrefundable or transferable. Workshop refunds and transfers requested earlier than 72 hours before the class start time will be charged a $5.00 processing fee.
