Philly Bread’s dough wizard, Pete Merzbacher comes to the Community Kitchen to teach you the basics of sourdough fermentation and how to set up an organized home kitchen. You’ll get hand-on learning how to mix, shape, and bake bread in any kitchen.
Everyone will leave with sourdough starter and fresh bread, plus instructions, recipes, contact info and resources. We encourage you to bring a small notebook to take notes. Please dress to bake, we suggest closed toed shoes too.
Pete Merzbacher owns Philly Bread, an artisan bakery that wholesales fresh bread to nearly 100 food establishments 364 days a year. Best known for creating the Philly Muffin, Peter also bakes a range of artisan breads like baguettes and ciabatta that use locally grown and freshly milled grains.
