We are having a good old fashioned shrimp boil to raise funds for the Greensgrow Community Kitchen! There will be live music from Zydeco-A-Go-Go!, dancing, free dance lessons and a fabulous low country shrimp boil! Chef Justin Swain from Rex 1516 and Chef Carolynn Angle from the Standard Tap will be handling the grub. Philadelphia Brewing Company will be on hand and on tap-they are putting a special keg on reserve in the VIP happy hour too!

The Greensgrow Community Kitchen is a bustling culinary center that serves as a business incubator and a demonstration kitchen. At the kitchen community members to learn canning, fermenting, bread baking, cheese making and other culinary skills. The space hosts cooking classes taught by chefs at some of the city’s best kitchens, like Cheu Noodle Bar and Little Baby’s Ice Cream. We make our preserves and prepared goods for the farmstand there too!

It is home base for some of the region’s most innovative, delicious and sustainable mobile vendors, including Local 215, Mama’s Meatballs, Cloud Coffee and Farm Truck Philly. In addition to food trucks, we also rent kitchen time to small craft businesses like jam and jelly makers Fifth of Farm Creations. We are proud to have given a leg up a talented group of clients that have gone on to success with larger facilities and kitchens of their own including Birchtree Catering, Mucho Bueno Food Truck and the Milk + Sugar Cupcake Truck.

The event will feature a raffle too! Some of our favorite local restaurants, businesses, vendors, artists and foodies are donating gift cards and local products that will be raffled off. Our featured raffle prize is “An Evening with Mary”. Greensgrow’s illustrious and hilarious founder (and a former chef) will make dinner for you at her home! This is sure to be THE hot ticket!

With your support we can improve our facilities next year so we can do even more with this great asset to the community!
