20th Anniversary Season Opening Celebration

March 26, 2017 @ 11:30 am - 2:30 pm

Greensgrow 20th Anniversary

Greensgrow Celebrates 20 Years!

You’re invited to help us kick-off our anniversary year at our 20th Anniversary Season Opening Celebration at both locations. Open house, reception, and arts dedications in memory of our founder Mary Seton Corboy who passed away in August 2016. Mary was a true Philadelphia visionary, launching the city’s flagship urban farm, and innovating new solutions for gardeners, urban farmers and residents looking to improve their quality of life. During the annual Season Opening weekend, Greensgrow will contribute 5% of all sales to Mary’s Community Fund, a legacy project to provide small grants to community-led greening and beautification efforts. Winners of each year’s grants will be announced. Greensgrow’s 20th Anniversary year will continue to highlight Mary’s life and legacy, while building the organization’s capacity for the next 20 years of “Growing food, flowers and neighborhoods.”

Mary’s Community Fund is a legacy project to continue the life and work of Mary Seton Corboy, the founder of Greensgrow and a visionary in supporting a greener Philadelphia. The Fund provides small grants, up to $1000, to individuals or organizations in Kensington, the Riverwards, and West Philadelphia for projects that will: improve neighborhood public spaces; beautify the community; nurture a shared sense of neighborhood identity and community pride.

Seeding the Next 20 Years: The 20th Anniversary capital campaign goal is to raise $100,000 towards upgrades to make our locations more accessible and available for community events and programming. A series of on-farm dinners and special events, including the Taste of Kensington fundraiser on June 10 will contribute towards this project.
